Control arm questions
Here goes. Currently have a 2003 4 door blazer frame, and a complete 95 4 door blazer to work with. Would like to run 37" or 38" tires and have some decent articulation. The Blazer body will not be an issue, I'll be building my own body utilizing the Blazer firewall and floor. Anyways, here's my thinking.... in building custom control arms, I can build them to utilize a k1500 knuckle/ball joint setup with the disc brakes and wheel bearings as well? If I was to add control arms to the rear instead of a solid axle, would there be any IRS that would be somewhat of a bolt/weld in setup? Not looking to go really wide at either end. Would like to stay around the 78" outside of tire to outside of tire.
Any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that many years ago there was a company who was making a wide IFS pre-runner kit for S-series trucks, but I haven't seen anything about that in quite a while. Using off-the-shelf parts wherever you can will help simplify your build though, so if you can build around a K1500 knuckle/brake setup that would probably help.
Anything on the rear end is going to be a complete custom fabrication since the rear is a solid axle with leaf springs. There's no mounts on the side of the frame for you to use, and the frame itself isn't very tall on the back so you'll probably need to widen that and stiffen it in order to accommodate an independent rear suspension. You'd probably be best off finding the kit or donor IRS vehicle you want, and fabricating your mounts from that as a template.

I'm trying to keep the custom fabricated parts to a minimum, readily available parts are what I am trying to go for. I've done a lot of searching for long travel kits and doesn't seem that there are any in production for the s10 platform. Gained quite a few ideas along the way. Thus the second blazer frame. I can always get the front end off of the second frame and weld it together with the other frame and get control arms at both ends. Which I would then have to beef up the upper control arm mounting points to prevent any failures happening.
Just looking for other out of the box thinkers that know the S10 platform that I can get info from that ya can't find on the web.
Thanks.

Hi....I think this is considered as simple however it isn't to me. I am so happy to have an incredible asset for data. You can call the shop whenever and they are glad to help yet I disdain requiring each easily overlooked detail. On the off chance that I bug them a lot over these control arms they probably won't sell me the following arms, probably won't be worth me messing with them.
