Dead Zone
Hey all,
So I have a 6 inch (3" left 3" right off center) dead zone in my steering wheel. I brought it in and they told me idler arm, so i replaced it and the dead zone is still there. I've been under the truck while someone moves the wheel and i can clearly see play in the idler arm area... Is there something i might have missed installing the idler arm or you guys think my center link is kapoot?
BTW, the 6 inch dead zone started right after i changed upper and lower ball joints on both sides of the truck... Beating on the joints to break them free warped the centerline maybe? Dunno, just some thoughts.
Thanks!

Mine feels loose. I just got it though and maybe am not used to these things. Who knows! it just feels like there is a dead-zone in the center and it feels like it crabs around stuff sometimes. Who knows! lol
Check your rag joint in the steering shaft. Easy way to tell is to leave the truck off turn the key on and turn the wheel back and forth and see how much movement you have in the steering without any other components of the steering moving. A second person would help a lot for this too!
