differential locking up?

Ok, I have another quirk in my 98' blazer, and it's scaring me because it seems like it could be an expensive fix.
I only have had this problem a few times. It seems that when I lose traction at a weird angle, the rear end has some rattle/dragging to it.
Prime example: Depending on how my roommates have their cars parked in the driveway, I just park off the street in front of the house. There is a drainage ditch there so I'm not level at all, the blazer is leaning to the right. It rained hard that night and so when I left for work the next morning, I had to give it some gas and made a nice little mark in my yard from the right rear wheel spinning in the grass/mud. When it got out into the street it was shaking for about 10 feet and felt like my tires weren't wanting to turn.
I didn't think much of it until it did it again a few days later, same scenario; one tire looses traction and then once I hit pavement it feels like both tires are dragging and I get a shudder.
Today, happened again, although this time it was all pavement. Was taking my friend to work, heavy traffic, made a left turn into a parking lot that had an upwards angle from the road. So, about 25mph I hit an incline at an angle and I got that weird shudder again from the wheels. It cleard up after about 5 seconds.
It seems like whenever the rear axle is torqued at an angle I get this lock-up feeling.
Any ideas?
Thanks
