If you really, REALLY want to do it here's the Cliff's Notes version of how to do it as "correctly" as possible (not for the automotive challenged):
  • Remove front drive shaft, axle, & CV shafts
  • Disassemble CV shaft outer splines from CV shafts
  • Reassemble outer splines into wheel bearing hub assemblies & torque to spec
  • Remove transmission & transfer case
  • Install 2wd transmission & 2wd driveshaft
  • Flash PCM/BCM with 2wd software (or get 2nd set of PCM/BCM programmed saving original set for next owner to revert back).
I put correctly in quotes because you are using a vehicle in ways it was not designed for...
