Disabling the 4 wheel drive function
If you really, REALLY want to do it here's the Cliff's Notes version of how to do it as "correctly" as possible (not for the automotive challenged):
- Remove front drive shaft, axle, & CV shafts
- Disassemble CV shaft outer splines from CV shafts
- Reassemble outer splines into wheel bearing hub assemblies & torque to spec
- Remove transmission & transfer case
- Install 2wd transmission & 2wd driveshaft
- Flash PCM/BCM with 2wd software (or get 2nd set of PCM/BCM programmed saving original set for next owner to revert back).
