Driveshaft or something else?
98 jimmy4x4x2 281,000km's
when im driving at slow(er) speeds and i hit the gas at the right time so that it jerks hard into the next gear i get 1 noticable TICK! that seems to come from right under the driver door. it only does the one tick (metal on metal) and dosent effect anything. havent yet heard it at higher speeds.
also i swear when i was parking and shifting from R to D it would occasionally make the sound
any help or things that can be easily checked with no jacks or stands, thanks.

If it is the U-Joint chances are you would definetly know just by looking at it, The caps are fragile and would show signs of disturbance. you could maybe be missing a cap thats just slamming into the clips. I've busted Ujoints/Yokes/drive-shafts in every way imaginable by man, And its always noticeable before they completely go.
Yeah just give a pull in every direction on the end of the driveshaft by the ujoints. If there is no play your ok. I think all cars/trucks make a little noise when shifting or going from forward to reverse.
