Default Found a Rear Axle I Think Will Work...

Hey...the rear end in my 96 4x4 is crapping the bed...I have a new front dif with 4.10's coming, so timing is right for a 4.10 rear. I found this, and need to see what ya'll think of it:

"97 98 99 00 01 02 JEEP WRANGLER 4.10/4.11 REAR AXLE ASSY."

I don't know enough about Jeeps to know if the track width is close enough. I'm not too concerned with adapting the driveshaft/yoke, but I do need to figure out what wheel adapters are available (if that's even what they're called). Any other info is appreciated. Never swapped an axle...but pretty sure I can figure it out.

Thanks!

PS: I also found a 7-5/8 S10 axle with 4.10s...but I imagine that'd be too wimpy to spin 35's.

You should find an 8.8 out of a ford explorer and have the hubs redrilled. Its a direct swap after that.

I'll look for that too...thanks for the heads up. But...would the axle in question work? I also found a couple of Isuzu Rodeo 2000ish model axles with 4.10s.

That jeep axle is more than likely a D35, which is about the same strength as the GM 7 5//8, so not that good.

The Isuzu I think is a D44 but has a 6 lug bolt battern, it would work but it may be hard to adapt it back to a 5 bolt pattern.

I didn't realize the D35's were roughly on par with the stock 7-5/8 crap. But...my ride is 95% on road, and I really just need it to turn 35's without snapping on the road. I'll start digging for the 8.8. I found a few on ebay...I'll try looking local as well.

Yeah anything I have ever read says stay away from the d35 as an upgrade. you would probably end up having to relocate spring perches as well on the d35. The 8.8 came in alot of Ford vehicles including the mustang and can handle a pretty good amount of power put through it. I've seem several guys that use then when they swap in ls motors and such as well. If it were me I would hold out until I found one for sure. What else are you doing to make 35s fit?

I have a Trail Master 5" lift coming, complete with a 4.10 front dif.

I already have a 2" body lift, and fiberglass prerunner fenders to take care of the front.
