Default Front axle seal install

I have been having a issue with the driver side front axle seal leaking. I have replaced it twice now and it it's still leaking it's been driving me crazy and now that I'm sitting here thinking about it I'm wondering if I put the seal in backwards. The seal has one face that is metal and one face that is rubber does anybody know which face is supposed to be facing out?

Here is a thread that I made after I did the same repair. My seal is still working fine. Maybe it'll help.

Did you replace the output shaft bearing too? Maybe it is worn. It might have been the original reason for the seal failing?
