Question Front Diff limited slip

Was reading a thread about Power Trax being the only locker available for the front diff on a ZR2 (or maybe any s10 4wd). I guess it was an old thread as they no longer have anything to fit the front.
Is there anything out there limited slip wise for the front diff? Will an aluminum housing hold up to a LS if there is?

Thanks.

I have no first hand experience, but I've heard the aluminum housing on our trucks won't hold up to a locker or lsd.

Supposedly some 5 speed, ZR2s came with an iron housing, but they're pretty rare

If you are serious, you might look into this option that I found when doing some general research on Blazer suspensions:

S10 HEAVY DUTY DANA 30 FRONT DIFFERENTIAL

Christine, why did you have to show me that?!

But the price of that is getting up there to what a SAS would be. But, man, a bolt in axle, already geared, with a selectable locker for $3800? I kinda want it

Wonder why it won't work in a non Z?

I believe all the standard trans Gen 3's have a cast iron front diff....however finding a 373 ratio like the Z's could be a challenge .

Hi Christine, Yeah, I caught that on one of the threads I was searching on where I think the Power Trax was mentioned. But I thing the thread was closed as it was pretty old and the axle cost less than that...

Not even a LS in an aluminum housing eh? Oh well. So if I found an iron housing is there anything to fit it. It looks small and I saw a video of the inards and it is anything but conventional in its engineering and components. Seems like it would have to be designed just for the s10 types...

I know. Right? Wouldn't you love to have such an axle in your rig?

I just wish there was a source for heavy duty cv shafts. Rcv makes some for the full size trucks, but not ours

So, I emailed the company as to why that dana 30 ifs wouldn't fit in a non Z. The pinion hits stuff on a stock height truck. A lift with diff drop, and it's fine Just FYI
