G80 gov lock conversion

A simple question. Can a G80 be gutted and converted with a lunch-box locker?
Thanks

Simple answer: No.

So, if you have a g80 rear end, you can't remove it, and put in another kind of locker?

Sure you can. You just can't take the internals out of the G80 and replace them with a lunchbox locker, like you can with an open carrier.

While I have your attention...
Can the front diff. be converted to a locker or posi very readily?

Sorry, not sure about that one.

Ah, OK. That's good. Kinda thinking about changing out my non working gov lok for like a detriot locker or something

I've always heard it's not a good idea for the front. The aluminum housing is too weak

Oh yeah, I did hear something about that a while back. Even so, I wonder what could go in there. Is the ring and pinion the same as the rear?
I guess you have to have an iron diff for a locker or ltd. slip...
