look in your glove box.
there is a white sticker about 2 1/2" H x 3 5/8" W. it has all your RPO codes, including your gear ratio.
you'll either have a GU6 (3.42's) or if you're really lucky, the coveted GT4 (3.73's) G80 is for the factory posi.
while you're @ it, see if you come across t AU0 code. that's the one for your RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) in case you didn't know.
**edit** sorry Chris, ya beat me to it (guess that's what happens when the ol' desk top dino frezzes up for 10 minutes)

couple of things. don't know where you got the idea or info to look on the diff (pumkin) 'cause there ain't any info on there. hasn't been like that in about 40 years.
you're also missing 2 digits from your VIN (supposed to be 17 in total) so we still can't help .
just how desperate are you to find this out? i mean, putting out your phone # like that (which you'll notice i blocked out some of it for you) you're just setting yourself up for potential spam. anyone can see that info, not just forum members.
and that last remark really has me baffled.

i mean, how can you say you have no idea if anyone is even replying to this thread? you're coming back to it and reposting questions and so forth. seriously!
you know what the easiest way for you to find out your gear ratio? take your VIN to any GM dealer, and ask them what it is. they'll need the last 8 digits-JUST GIVE THEM YOUR OWNERSHIP, IT'S EASIEST-and they'll tell you in mere seconds what every RPO code is on your truck.
sorry if that sounds a little harsh, but that last post is kinda irritating given our responses to your questions.
GL with your info quest.
I almost forgot I had merged his threads together... Oh well. His questions have been answered sufficiently that he can figure it out from here.
Rob, you really don't need to know any of that information to answer the question...
