Default Intermittent gear grind noise from front

Just putting a question out there for you all. My 95 has developed an intermittent gear grinding noise that sounds like it is coming from the right front. I have noticed that on 4-5 times in the past 2 weeks it sounds like gears are grinding together and then they set in with a slight clunk. My torsion bars are cranked about 1.5 inches and am thinking maybe the axle splines in the right front are walking out a bit. I have not taken notice if the wheels are turned when I first start to drive so I will keep an eye out for that. Any input would be appreciated.

When does this occur? Does it happen when you are in 2wd or 4wd? It quite possibly could be a problem with your front axle engagement system.

So far only in 2 wheel drive, I have not used 4 wheel drive in about 2 months. I did pop trans (auto) into neutral when it was making noise and the noise was still there. By the time I went to engage the 4 wheel drive the noise was gone.

Exact same problem occured recently on my 97. The passenger side steering stabilizer mount assembly was rusted all to hell and broke. I fixed that and it was fine for a little while but eventually the grinding noise came back and started to slightly pull to the right again. Nothings broken as far as I can tell. Also my problem occurs in 2wd. Haven't tried 4wd yet.

And when I disengage the clutch, it doesn't help. As always, any help is much appreciated.
