Jeep steering shaft fitment.

Jeep steering shaft fitment.
I ran across a bunch of threads on getting rid on that rag joint and putting in a shaft from a jeep cherokee. For the ones thats new to this the 1st gen cherokee shafts fit the 1st gen blazers,2nd gen cherokees fit the 2nd gen blazers.
So i had to test fit one at the pull it yard to see if its true. I got lucky and found a 93 s10 and a 95 cherokee across from each other with no engines so it was easy access. Had em both off in 15 minutes. I reinstalled the jeep one on the s10 and both ends slide on,it was long enough too etc. perfect fitment. Problem is the end closest to the steering column before hand had a bolt that slides through it with a nut to keep it from sliding off. the key off that jeep shaft was off center and there was in no way possible get it to work safely unless you drill a new hole which would be impossible unless you pulled out your steering column.
Any other ways around this? Could i use a large hefty carter clip? Wish i took pictures.
