Default klucking noise from the front diff wen engaged????

hi guys!!

hope you guys can help me. as soon as I select 4low and it engages then 4x4 works. as soon as I put torque on the front diff or turn a loud klucking sound comes from that area? what I saw is that the diff is mounted on rubber in a horizontal position and it very close to the mounting points could it be the diff moving and knocking on the chassis???

usually if its hitting you should be seeing impact points, like shiney metal where its hitting. if you can get in there with a small prybar and pry on it a little to see if it moves. it should have a little give but it flops around and bangs then they are bad.

but also by having that front end engaged you are putting more stress up there then it would be in 2wd so you could be making the control arms hit or some other steering part.

when i had older s10s with big tires the cv joints would bang like crazy while it was in 4wd. no noise going straight but turned the wheel anymore then like 90 degrees and they would clunk away.

Also, check your engine mounts. 4wd? more torque needed. if mounts are bad engines gonna lift even more in 4wd and once it falls it can cause a clunk of mounts are broken.

thanks guys!!! im thinking more and more its the cv's because the sound is much more prominent when I turn! but strange when I drive sand and deflate my tyres then sound is much less! think I should drive it as hard as I can with the sound and see what breaks lol
