I'm getting a new truck as a DD and so I'm gonna turn my 95' Blazer 4x4 into a weekend toy. I'm only 18 and so this is my first wheeler and i don't know where to start. Can i start with getting a 6 inch lift and rims and tires or are there other things i should do first?(Besides getting longer brake lines and such i mean)
If i can just start with the 6 inch lift what kit should i get? I don't need an extreme performance lift kit for $10,000 because it's not worth it to me. I was looking at the Ruff Country 6 inch lift lit and it seems to be the cheapest but is that because the quality is beyond terrible?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

If you want it as a toy, I would also suggest a SAS if you have the facilities and know-how. It would be far tougher, and a lot less maintenance. With a 6" lift you can fit 33" tires fairly easily, but the front and rear differential really aren't up for the stresses, nor are the ball joints, tie rod ends and brakes.
That said, I had a 5" lift in my Blazer for 10+ years, and overall it was good. It was a maintenance nightmare though. Axle shafts, and ball joints were my nemesis, oh and 2 rear gear sets.
I rebuilt the axles and SAS my Blazer for less $$ than a IFS lift kit. The IFS lift kit was far less technical to install though.
More than my usual $.02, $.17 perhaps?

If I was to do my blazer over again id go straight to a SAS or buy a jeep or a yota. But I wasn't planning on wheelin that much with it like I have been. My front end has been a high maintenance **** show, still love it though
. I seen some pictures of your blazer Diaita on BCJC a few months back, I did a couple trips with some of those guys

Yea, I have a Jeep too, but most out of town trips I take the Blazer because it's far more civilized on the highway. I get a hell of a ribbing for not bring the Jeep on BCJC runs.

If I had the tools and know-how I would have gone with the solid-front-axle too. That being said, I am really happy with my simple & cheap lift on the stock IFS. 6 years now of running solid, although I am going to be replacing some steering components once the snow is gone.
