Default Manual Locking Hubs Warm?

After a brief, 10 mile, drive on the pavement in 2 wheel drive hubs not locked the hubs are warm to the touch. Not hot per se just warm. Is this normal?
Front axle and diff were not warm. Just heat sink from the rotors??

Depending on how hot they were it sounds like its just heat from the brakes.
