need help with shifter cable please...!!!!
omg well here is what happend today i was coming back from church and near my house there is a large mud hole that i hit almost everytime i drive by well i hit it and there was a limb that stuck up in my blazer and cought the shifter cable streatching it all the way behind the trans mount and now its stuck in first and wont go to park or anything im sure ill have to replace it but how do i do this do i have to drop the trans or can i take the shifter out and run the new cable down and on the side of the trans by the way its a 97 blazer 4x4 with a 4l60e trans if that helps...

sound like you have a floor shifter right, its not that difficult,so the console needs to removed to gain acsess to the shifter, then its a matter of disconecting the cable frome the shifter, then a snap in type connector that holds the cable housing, i also removed the drivers front seat and pulled up the carpet, disconnected the cable from the tranny, it just pops off, there is also a oval plug in the floor board that comes out, also i had to remove the metal transfer case skid plate,mine was a little tiny almost a joke of a skid plate, carefully remove the old cable noting the routing, also be sure you get the proper shift cable for your application, reroute the new cable in and reinstall everything back.. not difficult just a slight pain,, also the bolts for the front seat are tight,real tight and use a torx socket.. enjoy

yea i was kinda going crazy when i posted this thread after i calmed down i went and took a look at it not to much really the only pain now is to find a new cable for the floor shift i have already looked at every junk yard around my house all the blazers/jimmys i have seen are column shift someone said i could use the column shift cable if i rig it up what do you think could i use it till i get the money to fix it right.?
