Default Noise in 2hi only

Hey guys needs some advice. I have a 97 4x4 blazer and it just started making a noise in 2hi only. Sounds like a card in a bike spoke in the right front. If you switch to 4hi or 4lo the noise goes away, it doesn't matter if its in gear or not. I have had the truck sense about 50,000mi and the 4 wheel drive is almost never used (wife's car). I just sold it to my dad and now it decides it wants to fall apart. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dan

Sounds like the engagement cable for the front diff is sticking and causing the collar to interfere with the passenger side output shaft.

is this something that can be fixed without tearing into the diff?

Search around. There are quite a few posts on this. It may be solved by simply lubricating the engagement cable.
