My blazer will do this on occasion. When it does ill shift the transmission through reverse, neutral and down to drive and it will usually shift back into 2hi. Im assuming it has to do with the neutral safety switch not being fully adjusted correctly.

Thanks to Hess and Christine!

Hess, I have noticed having to move the trans shifter on the column slightly above “N” in order for the t/case to shift into 4L. Almost between “R” and “N”! I will check/adjust the neutral safety switch after the weekend. I’ll keep y’all posted!!

Hello!

I apologize for not getting back to the thread sooner but I wanted to make sure the vehicle was fixed. I purchased a used encoder motor from transpartshop1 (ebay) for $37 with a 1year warranty, had my son replace it and have had no issues for about 2 weeks now. Transfer case is shifting smooth and quick.

Congrats on the fix! Thanks for the update. These updates are super useful for those who will find this thread someday.
