Which One is Better ?
Hello everybody
I wanna replace my 00 Jimmy control arm shaft but I found too many brands which they made control arm shaft but I don't know which brand is better after the original Acdelco. I use it as daily driver and I don't use it for off-road What I found is those brand and I will sort them from highest price to lowest one : Dorman 21 $ MOOG 44 $ Acdelco 48 $ If anyone was used any one of these brand please give your opinion about it thank you |
"control arm shaft?" Not so sure what that would be.
Considering people have not liked that the Moog quality has apparently gone down, unless it is AC Delco, it might be a bit of a crap-shoot what is better. |
|
OK, it must be a 2wd one? I've never worked on one of them. But the same general advice applies. I'd go with the AC Delco but that is more of a gut feeling.
|
It's been a hit and miss for me with doorman. I would go with acdelco. Le me know how this goes, I need to fo the wifes front end on her sonoma.
|
Yes christine it's 2wd.
I don't know DonL if the Dorman is still like what you say. Then it will be a big problem for me because I can't return it if it's defect because it will cost me too much to ship it back to them. But I was think to buy Dorman because when I check the review of it in AMAZON I saw that most of buyers give Dorman 5/5 and Moog has less rate then Dorman. Moreover like what christine say the moog quality decrease not like before. I was think from beginning to buy ACdelco but the problem now it's not available in any online store and I order before from amazon ACdelco but they cancel my order and they told me they don't know when it will be available. |

It seem exactly like what you told me DonL. I order Dorman but after few minutes I focus on the photo of it I saw that it completely different than ACDELCO and other aftermarket brands it look like complete circle steel bar with two holes and black paint and it doesn't have the curve at the middle. So, I canceled my order and now I think to buy either Delphi or NAPA because ACDELCO not available and if it's available the price is doubled or I should make back order which will take too long time. thank you |
Be sure to report back after you get the part and then after you have driven using it to tell us it it works out for you.

Hello everybody
I end up with Delphi shaft kit and I will change all suspension parts rear and front include shock absorbers except the steering parts. But now I have a question about the front shock absorbers ZQ1 (Acdelco) I buy a set of two but it has a washer welded on the top of it while the original photo of it in the site there is no washer welded on it So, is this washer use to lock the shock absorber in compressed postion and I should remove it before I install them or I should left this washer in it is place. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...cdf6982225.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...8eaae1bb54.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...6a74c09799.jpg |
Hello anybody can tell me what should I do because I want to install them ?

In particular though, I've never seen a shock with that extra disk unless perhaps it was intended to support a boot that would keep the shaft clean as it goes in and out of the body of the shock. Otherwise, does it seem like it will work? |
I search now there is no Aftermarket or OEM that manufacture it with this disk. I try to compress the shock by pressing it on the floor it seem already compress because it's not compress when I do that
here is a list of the parts BILSTEIN 24187428 KYBKG5450 KYB565046 GABRIEL58421 ACDELCO52525 ACDELCO530156 MONROE37129 KYB344040 Thank you christine for reply |
I know now how it's work but I don't it's normal or not. It extend when I pull it by hand and compressed when I push it.
|
It should extend by itself. If it doesn't, it sounds like there's no gas in them.
