It should not act any different than a 2wd vehicle.
I have thought about that though. Some people say it turns hard but I drove a solid axle car with 26" wide tires on the street and it seemed to turn fine. But that car was at least 1500lbs lighter. A loaded truck would be a very different story. When turning, one tire must turn at a higher speed than the other. When running a spool they both turn at the same time and whichever has the least traction will drag. So it will end up with increased tire wear no matter what.
I have thought about a Powertrax Lock-Right which is pretty much a spool under load and an open when coasting, but I was unsure about winter driving when trying to make a turn while on the throttle when it acts like a spool.
The best option I have found is an actual limited slip differential, but that takes money and setup costs. Everything else is going to come with some sort of negative aspect.

This is only what I have come up with while reading. So far I have been happy with the Auburn Gear Limited Slip I put in my Firebird. They are around $400 for the S10 and a lunchbox locker runs close to the same amount. I'm not a fan of the factory unit since they take a dump when abused(burnouts, repeatedly breaking the tire(s) loose from a dead stop).
