Default Pitman Arm Help

Does anyone know the size of the nut holding the pitman arm to the steering gear shaft and can you remove it without pulling out the steering gear? Thanks.

How much of a pain is it to pull out the steering gear? That's all I have left before installing all my new parts.

lol ive been holding mine off for the same reason. Talked to a mechanic and he said its not bad. takes about 2 hours to finish. Id rather just pay the $100 labor and have him do it. Its not too hard, just the bolts and the lines for the powersteering.

Over the past few days I've gotten my ball joints, idler arm and tie rods out and I need the tie rods in to start torquing everything in. I don't have a wrench big enough to get that nut off the steering gear shaft so if anyone knows the size of it, it would be extremely helpful. Thanks guys. Btw..i already tried . Out of all the videos i've seen, blazers and jimmys are the worst for getting the p arm out. There's very little room in there to work with.

I did mine in about 45 minutes there easy , take the three bolts out of the steering gear (that go through the frame) , and the one bolt holding the steering shaft to the steering gear and then the lines and the nut holding it to the center link . Then I put my hole steering gear in a vise and used a pitman arm puller with the impact . I had to do it twice because the first time advance gave me the wrong part , but at least the second time I knew how to do it .

I ended up taking out the steering box as suggested/necessary and have it almost back to installed. Still need to connect the second steering fluid hose. After many, many hours, I'm finally to the "installation" stage instead of "demolition.' I cant wait to get her back on the road.

I ended up just using a large adjustable wrench and made sure it was really tight. I stayed up all night to work on it so hardware stores were all closed.
