Default Pitman Arm Replacement

I'm thinking I might do this over the weekend along with the idler and was wondering if I need the tool that properly seats the arm on the spline shaft on the steering gear. Can I just tighten the nut down to where it presses the arm on the shaft. I know the puller is an absolute must but I got curious about the other tool when reading my chilton. If anyone has done this job before please feel free to chime in with your advice. Thanks
