Pittman Arm Help
So i just got kicked in the butt by my Pitman arm on my 2000 blazer 4x4. LOl i cannot separate the Pittman arm from the tie rod. I have broken a tie rod separator fork. Do you have any suggestions?

Pitman arm should be a non wear item from what I understand, the idler arm needs to be replaced often though.
Short of that, use some penetrating lube, and use a puller if you can... I have never done it, but the idler arm was pretty easy.

The pitman arm should be a non wear item? I was told my the shop i needed to replace mine. (i added it to a long long list of to-dos) If its a non-wear part, what makes it go out?

Idler arms and pitman arms both fail eventually, how to remove them i dont know. I will eventually find out myself I need to replace both as well.

Ive got a 99 4x4. Im trying to do the pitman aswell.. The idler was a joke. ive hammering it but theres not enough room for a pitman puller...im going to try another type though. For mine ive got to take out he steering gear to get the pitman off the shaft but i can do that until i unhook it from tr other end. If anyone has any ideas that would take it off please post by the sounds of it there are many people trying to change the pitman.

VRRYDER, you said the idler was a joke. so it was that easy? how much grease did you pump into after you replaced it? i am always worried about over pumping with that grease gun lol

On my blazer I pulled the front skid plate off, and it was right there.
Just turn the wheel so you can get acess to everything.
and the nuts in the frame have some sort of bracket holding them in place, but I would still be carefull to not let them fall in.
