The rear axle on the GMT360/370 platform vehicles is a 4 link setup, not leaf spring. It will not bolt in to an s-series vehicle. The internals should swap provided it is a 7.625" axle. Some of them came with the 8.5" axle.
And, are you sure of the RPO code you listed...? It doesn't sound like a normal s-series axle ratio code...
G75 - AXLE REAR, 3.62 RATIO
So if you do not have G80 on your RPO list, then you would need the whole differential from the vehicle you are pulling from. If it doesn't have the same axle ratio (which I HIGHLY doubt that it would), then you would need to swap the ring gear.

Hmmm.... That's weird then.
Maybe you still managed to get the 8.5" axle... Which should only be on ZR2's and 5-speeds... Unless specially requested...
I'm gonna go digging through my RPO codes and see what I can find...

G80 is the standard GM RPO code for the gov-loc diff... In all vehicles. So find a junked S-series with G80 in the dash.
GU6 is the normal s-series code for 3.42 gears...
For an S-series, G75, the code you specified in your first post, gives you GVW RATING , "4,550 LBS"
It's not a gear related code, it seems...
