Default Rear bearing

I just recently had to replace rear bearing, i got it changed and all and im leaking gear oil out of driver side rear, the new seal matched the old one, so dont know why it it's not sealing. Also i hear a slight grinding noise, i was careful to make sure i didn't get any debris in the rear end when i was putting it all back together. Im just curious to why it could be leaking and to what the noise is.

When replacing axle seals use a wire brush to clean rust off the axle shaft where it meets the seal. Put some gear oil on the axle shaft to keep from damaging the seal when installing it. You could have just gotten a faulty seal. I use timken seals. The noise you're hearing could be bearing groan because its low on oil.

For some reason the seal isnt sealing, it pops in but comes out with no resistance at all, if i use some rtc sealant would that mess any thing up, because the seal is good on the shaft it just where it sludes in the rear end that it needs to be about an 1/8" bigger.

Sounds like the wrong seal, should be tight(pressed in) fit. I would not trust RTV except as a short term repair. Get a caliper and check it at the counter.

Sounds like the wrong seal to me as well.

There are two seals listed for these vehicles. One is for the axle with the smaller rear axle housing for the 7.5" or 7.625" ring gears. The diff cover on those is more oval, with flatter top and bottom. The diff cover for the 7.5"/7.625" gears looks like this:

The other seal is for the larger diff housing, with the 8.5" or 8.625" ring gear. That one has a more round cover. The cover on the larger diff looks like this one:

I don't know which axle you have, but the bearings and seals are different depending on which one you have.
