Possibly someone has installed a different differential? Or a locker... You have to open it up to find out.

When both tires have the same amount of traction (or lack of it) they will both spin the same... even with an open carrier. Put just one tire in the mud and see what happens.

The car was driven by my Grandma before me. There's not a chance its been changed, I did all the maintainence and work on it. What should I look for when i open it up. Is a locker the same as a lsd?

There were only two options, open or the gov-loc G80.

Open it up and snap a picture of what you see, then post it.

Sounds like the factory may have slipped in something else. Stranger things have happened. Try jacking up only one wheel and try to slowly drive off.
