Rear driveshaft Removal and U joints.
One of my u joints has dried up and started chirping on my 2001 blazer..
When I remove the driveshaft from the transfer case will gear oil leak out?
And to get the u joints out ill have to heat them up to melt a plastic ring and press them out right?

The TC won't leak unless you break it. lol
You'll have the hardest time getting that CV to pop off, so just hit it as hard as you can for a while and it'll come off.
Yea, when I did mine I just heated them with map gas until nothing else would come out. Took about 5-10 minutes, then used an 18 or 19mm socket, a mallet, and a press to get the u-joint out.

A small amount of ATF poured out when I took the driveshaft out. I'm going to be doing the u joints tomorrow.

You will see the Teflon come out when you heat them. make sure you heat all around them as equally as possible.

That's weird about the ATF fluid. None spilled out of mine.

Yep, mine lost a little gear oil from the tranny when I pulled mine too.

It depends on what angle your truck is on,hot or cold fluid, and how full the tranny is I find. Some of done its trickle out, some none.

That and for some reason I was thinking of the front drive shaft removal. That's why I thought of the CV. My bad, I guess I can't read. lol
