Default Roaring front driver side

Hey Guys- I searched older threads for my answers and was hoping to avoid bugging everybody but didnt have any luck. Hopefully someone will be able to give me a quick response on this....

Havent had my 2000 4X4 Blazer long. It has 130,00 miles and looks like someone recently put a junkyard Transfer case in it (paint marker #'s on it)

After a week or so of driving this thing I started hearing a roaring noise from the drivers side front. Getting louder and louder over a couple of weeks.

I first suspected wheel bearing but there is no up and down play in the wheel when jacked up.

The CV axle has grease all over it up close to the T-case but no clicking or popping.

Honestly the noise sounds like Boggers at 80 mph but I have stock size tires with highway tread.

Brakes and dust sheild look fine.

I do feel a little bit of vibration in the floor but not bad.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I'd jack up the front and check the bearings again. Roll the passenger side with your hands and listen to it. Then do the same to the driver's side. I've seen bad bearings that didn't have any extra play in them.

Well... After tearing in to this thing, It turned out that I had a trashed drivers side front axle. The wheel bearing hub assy also seems to be questionable.

I have it all apart and cant seem to figure out how to release the axle from the differential???

The Axle came apart as soon as it was clear of all of the other components and the splined end is left stuck.

Please tell me what I am doing wrong!!!

You need a bigger hammer!! All that holds the inner end on the output shaft from the differential is a snap ring on the inside that will compress & release given sufficient motivation.

Thanks for the helpful hints on this. The project is fnished. Going back together was pretty simple and the noise I was hearing is gone.

Just in case someone else finds this helpful... I found that un-bolting the upper control arm from the frame and removing the shock allowes enough clearance to remove the axle. This kept me from having to seperate the ball joints. The ball joints were surprisngly in great shape and I did not want to risk damaging them.
