I have a dilemma...I have a 95 blazer with 4.3 V6...recently, the frontend started squeaking on the drivers side whether moving or not. It squeaks when I turn the steering wheel either direction, and also when i bounce it up and down.
I have replaced ball joints, shocks and bushings. All pivot points are greased and in good working order. The squeak is still there and it sounds like it's coming from the cv boot area and from the steering shaft to steering box. I'm really in a quandry over this can someone please help?

It could also be the sway bar bushings, or it could be the upper or lower control arm bushings. To confirm if it's there lay in front of the truck and bounce it up and down. It might help narrow down the source of the squeak. You could try spraying some penetrating lubricant on there. Those are more likely sources of a squeak than the steering shaft or CV boot.

Thanks El_Beautor...I'll look at that. I wonder if I could loosen the bolts for the control arms to get some lubricant down into the bushings?

I'd recommend against loosening control arm bolts, and if you do decide to try it be really careful doing that. It could affect your allignment.

thank you for the advice. I just don't see any other way of getting lubricant into the bushings. also, my sway bar is not really connected too well to the ends. there are no nuts holding the ends in the connection joints, is this typical? the book says nothing about this?

The OEM sway bar bushings were held on with the washer itself threaded. You have to use some big channel locks or pliers to get them to thread off to replace the sway bar bushings.

I had to cut my sway bar connectors with a sawzall, those threaded washers get stuck.

My 98 squeaks like that but only when steering dead straight. Traced it down to lower driver side ball joint, with no zerk grease fitting. Pisses me off that there is no grease fitting. How much was saved, 10 cents by using a bolt instead?

thank you all for your info and advice...I located the squeak (lower control earm bushing) and I have eliminated it. I'm having another issue with the front end and maybe you all can help me with it. I replaced the brake pads and now i've developed a new rubbing noise.
