Default Steering Box Adjustment

Guys,

I just had ball joints replaced and front end alignedin my 1998 Bravada AWD. I had already previously replaced the Idler Arm myself.

I still have a lot of play in my steering which is agravating. The mechanic at the alignment shop refused to adjust the steering box for me. He said it was too dangerous because of the metal they put in them now days may break.

Any truth to this? I know how to adjust steering boxes and have done so before but that was several years ago.

Thanks for your input I will be diligently awaiting a response!

Default RE: Steering Box Adjustment

adjusting setscrew on steering box...

If you know what you are doing, you should be able to do it correctly, but it really should be done with the box off of the vehicle.
