Depends on what brand of shock you are talking about. I put Monroe Reflex shocks on the front of my Bravada. They were more stiff than the OEMs. Bilstein shocks are OEM and they are very good shocks.

For longevity a stiffer shock like the Monroe Reflex, KYB Monomax, or Edlebrock IAS shocks would probably last longer, but I know from putting in my Edlebrock IAS shocks that the ride got better (less body roll and no up and down motion when crossing railroad tracks) but I can feel many bumps in the road and it rides a lot more like a truck than a suburban does. I did not have the truck when i was new so I dont have much to compare it against other than other larger trucks. I think the Bilstens would be a good shock, as they are OEM and mine lasted me 135,000 miles.
