i got a 97, shifts ok between 4lo & 4hi, but not back to 2wd. can hear shifting sounds up front when i press the 2wd, but stays lock in 4hi, light stays on for 4hi as well.

any quick suggestions...?

 

there is a transfer case vacuum switch on the center firewall which is common. check vacuum lines to it. I had the same problem and I replaced the switch on the dash and it solved it. these are two relative easy areas to start.
