Default Tie rods rubbing lower control arm

Kept hearing a pop and clunk type noise that should not be
doing since the entire front end was replaced.

It was more so on passenger side noise wise.

I finally found it, ...both my Tie rods are rubbing both my
lower control arms...passenger side sheared of grease fitting.

They did it on my old control arms also I discovered from old
pics. ( first pic )

Are they turned wrong ? ( see second pic )
I found a Tech video showing opposite direction ??
***Post a pic of your front end \ inner tie rods.***

Yes, the castle nut should be on the radiator side... I thought you were gonna have The Count fix all of this - or at least another shop. I would just go forward thinking everything the last guy did is wrong and start over...

Hold up, that doesn't even look like the right center/drag link in your photos??? The point where the inner tie rods mount to it should be clock 90 degrees to those (the inner tie rod end should be on it's side, not up and down)

Correct me if I'm wrong though someone...

I think the funny angle is just from the center link being in backwards, but yes, you are correct

The count was not in last night, must have been over at Vamps (his Bar)
and I found this one on my very own

Besides the suspension guy no longer works there he was fired same week he did mine ....no wonder why...

I think now we have un-rooted his evil doings on my front end now, the other suspension guys are good and the store manager and I have been friends since last year and he does a ton of free stuff for me.

Yeah I think that center link is flipped around and was reinstalled in reverse...

Take this picture for example; this is from the first time I did my ball joints (I was replacing the tie rod ends too). Even if the inner tie rod were put on the wrong side (which by the way would be practically impossible because of the way the bolts taper), they would just be on the other side and more forward, but even then they wouldn't get any closer to the lower control arm...

Yep that's what i started wondering...The un-bolting Party begins tomorrow
at 4pm down at the shop, and all my pics and diagrams will be there with me making sure it goes in correct this time...
My View while watching them tomorrow ....

Well guys I am glad to say:
* NO MORE - Tire dragging while backing up with tires turned.
* No more pop and clunk hitting control arms.
* The turning radius is much shorter now.
* Just overall feel of steering is awesome now
.... Drives like new...OH YEAH...It is new.

Cause of my issues last 8 months :
The center link was flipped over....
The tie rod ends were put on wrong side of center link with
the castle nuts facing the engine and should have been
facing toward radiator.

As I said... I like the shop owner and Managers....
For the inconvenience at no charge of course they
replaced both inner and outer tie rods, and flipped
Center Link over.

Also the shop owner noticed parts in my seat - I bought
a new fan clutch and fail safe thermostat for my other
mechanic to install, ..the owner said they would install
those for free too.

.....So score ..I saved 50.00 bucks in labor...
and my Blazer drives better than ever.........
On to next - Brakes/Gearbox.
.
---> Pics below of center link and tie rod pointing correct now.....

Oh man, not having the bolts on the tie rod sleeve in the same orientation would drive me nuts!!

Glad you got everything fixed!

(Seriously, I'd have to move that bolt...)

Default Might Be Part of my Problem

I need to check mine out because I have been having this Pop/clunk noise when I turn sharp. Some Time's when I was hitting bumps I heard it. I replaced Tie Rod end's, and now CV axle. I know I need new shocks and was thinking hey Ill post on the Blazer Forum and see what other people say. The first post I see was this one and I was like hey that might be my problem. I think that is part of it and it looks like the tie rod is hitting the stabilizer link.
