Default transfer case issues

Ok people, I have a 78 blazer with an np203 case and the transfer case would not stay in 4 wheel drive so being the genius that I am I decided to just go buy a used one and replace it.....I just got done taking out the old one and the lever shifts in and out of four wheel very nice now so here is my question......Does this mean that all it needed was to be adjusted or should I just replace it? Another dumb question is why are there two shift levers on the t-case? I would like to keep the original in because the one I bought is pretty nasty looking and I will need to change the output shafts anyway.....Thanks for the help and I hope my experience with this helps someone else.

lol, yea, you coulda just adjusted it. Every now and then, you'll have one that will need adjustment. Not sure on the dual levers though. I'd have to be there to check it out.

Definitely adjust it. The NP203 is not all that difficult to do.

And about those levers. One controls the high/lo range box on the front of the transfer case while the other controls the locking of the center differential. The NP203 is a fulltime 4wd transfer case and therefore has a differential in the case. When you select LO-loc or HI-loc, the shift lever is locking the center differential. I suspect this is the source of your problem.
