Default transfer case question

does the transmission and transfercase both share the same fluid or do they have their own seperate fluids? if seperate where do you check the transfercase fluid?

What T-case you have? The non auto trac takes DexIIImercV, the auto trac take GM specific auto trac fluid.

No, the transmission and transfer case do not share fluid. As far as checking the fluid level, the s-series trucks have two plugs on the back of the transfer cases. The lower one is the drain plug while the upper one is the fill/level plug. Remove the upper plug and the fluid level should be even with the bottom of this hole.

If you want more specific information, you will need to post your vehicle information. In the future, please provide this information in each post where you are asking for technical advice/information.
