Default Trying to figure out what's up with transmission

5/23/10 the engine blew (rod I think) at 190K miles on my 1998 Blazer LT 4X4. Had a new engine put in, picked it up last night, and the engine light came on. I'm told it has had up to 5 quarts of transmission fluid added prior to me getting it back. The error code was 1870 (1970?) transmission component slippage. I had the transmission serviced today to see if clean fluid would help as the old stuff smelled burned and was dark in color. The first shift from 0 mph is rough ... 1st to 2nd? ... and the 2nd shift is a little rough, but not much. After that it seems to be fine. Any ideas what is going on and if it's related to a blown engine? Wondering where to go from here ... thanks!
