(1983' Chevrolet s10 blazer 4x4)

alright so today i offered to take cousin to pull a part get some stuff so i can fix his honda... ironically while driving down the highway. i hear some clunking and clacking coming from front drivers side wheel. so we get to pull a part i crawl underneath by the tire and what do i see..... these 2 peices basically sitting on top of the axle.... so i grabbed them and through them in the back. cause there was nothing else i could do at the moment... the boot was also ripped halfway off which im guessing is the root of the problem. rock from the gravel roads around here probaly shattered it...

yippe. so i got a 30min ride home with the front drivers side cv axle knocking around rattling like a sombitch.. so what is the correct terminology for this. cant find it under the names im searching

Its just part of the cv joint. That's part of the baring. There should be metal ***** in those slots. It was probably broke and just came loose at highway speeds. Cool breakage

That looks like the bearing cage of the axle. Looks like its been driven for years with no boot. Needs a new axle and look for anything else it might have tore up.
