hey guys i kinda have a few things to ask first off sometime down the road ill be putting a 6" superlift and either a 2 or 3 inch body lift on my 97 blazer when its all said and done i may get 8-9 inches of lift i know i could fit 35s under it maybe 37s if they fit. with either 35s or 37s would i have to change the grears? if so what would be a good gear ratio to run i heard someone say you have to get atleast 4.11 to run 33s thats kinda had me scratchin my head seamed a little to much dont get me wrong i would love to have 4.11 but is it a must have with just 33s? anyone know anything about this...

Im running a SFA D30/C8.25 combo locked. Soon to be 8.8 in the rear. Ive broken lots.
When I was still IFS with 33x14 boggers I broke front drive shaft CV, both outter tie rods. I was beating the crap out of my truck though.
Since SFA,
-D30 axle shaft(my fault, ujoint was completely dry and lots of play.
-lower ball joint (guess my grease fitting was siezed closed cause it was almost dry)
the ball joint going took out another axle
-rear locker from abuse
-a few wheel bearings from constant mud/water/abuse
-front drive shaft

+1 to this. I would advise doing the solid axle swap with at least dana44s front and rear. We all know the dana44 can handle 35s if you decide to do so.

i wheeled a 85 s10 blazer with a 2.8 6cylinder that had no power at all. i also was running 33 12.50 tires and i literally broke axle shafts everytime i turned the wheel. if i kept it straight ahead it was fine. i always find it amazing how other people on here with 33s and 35s make them last so long
as far as gears im running 3.73s with 33s now under my s10 with k5 axles in 2wd (which its rarely ever in) it isnt no speed demon but in 4low its perfect. i really didnt want to go any lower gears cause i want the wheel speed in 1st. if you put in like 4.56 gears and floor it youre gonna be going like 3mph which is going to suck if your trying to fly through a hole or fly up a steep hill. but would be perfect for rock crawling.
but probably with those gears you can run 4high

thanks ill see what i can find and check out some builds on here im sure there are 10 diffrent ways of doing the same thing i just want to find the best right way to get the job done i know if i got a 6" superlift its $2,300 2" body lift $150 and tires $850 new gears prob $500 or more thats $3500 right there and i know ill break everything out of my frontend and SFA is a bettwr way to go for sure..
edit: just to be clear the prices are the cost if i was to lift my blazer with the IFS i dont know how much it would be with SFA but its alot stronger and would save me time and money rather than rebuild my frontend after every trail ride haha
