hello all. i have been searching craigslist and there is a guy on there who has a locker its a GM 30 spline 8.5 locking differential. for only 150!!! now i am trying to figure out, would this fit in my 96 blazer? or is this only for the zr2 models?

anybody with knowledge of axles and gearing would help here seeing as how i have none. lol. my truck is stock gearing and it is a 96 4x4x4.

 

You have a 7.625" rear axle. It won't work.

That's a G80 locker & in the 8.5" rears, they weren't all that reliable. Buyer beware if you are looking to purchase a used G80 for any application. And even though that ad states it has been rebuilt, just remember that it takes specialized & very $$$ tooling to rebuild one of those correctly. It's not something that most shops would have/do.
