Default Zr2 rear end??

So I can't seem to find a straight answer at all. I just got my hands on a '97 s10 zr2 pickup. I know it's got the 3.73 gears and 8.5" ring gear, but what I can't seem to find out is if it has limited slip or not. I know it doesn't have the g80 because it don't see it labeled in the glove box. I hope it's not just a standard open diff, and I've heard stories of some zr2's having them. How do I find out if it's got LSD?

simple ways :
do a burnout. Did both tires lock up and leave some rubber?
spin the tires with the car jacked up. did they both spin the same way? if yes,its lsd.
pull the cover. if its got a clutch pack....then yes.

So now I'm confused. I jacked it up and the wheels turned the opposite way, but I did a burnout and both tires did leave rubber. So which is it? Lol

I'm 99.99% sure all ZR2's came with the G80. Kind of odd it is not listed in the RPO codes. Are you SURE it is a real ZR2 and not a fake?

Yes I'm sure. Zr2 is listed in the RPO codes, and it's listed on the sticker on the firewall as well. And the door placard says it came stock with 31x10.5x15. From what I understand I guess up until the model year of what mine is that the g80 came as an option and not stock.

Along with the code GU4, for the 3.73 gears. I even checked the vin and it matched up.

With the G80, the tires will spin opposite directions when spinning by hand. Did you do a burnout on dry pavement? If yes then I think it's safe to say you have it. Only way to know 100% is take the cover off and look

Yeah I guess I'll have to. But that still leaves the question of why isn't it listed in the RPO codes. You'd think that being the off-road package it'd come stock with at least a limited slip. Ugh...General Motors...

Yeah, no idea. Maybe it could've just been an error when printing the RPO sheet, mistakes happen.

I think 94's and maybe 95's didn't come standard with the G80 but otherwise I'm pretty sure they all did.

So I got the cover off and sure enough it is a stupid open diff. I even called the GM dealership and had them look up my VIN and they told me it did not come with the g80. They said the ones from 98+ came stock with it, but it came as an option for 94-97. So I guess the only question now is...what's a good posi unit for daily driving, snow 5 months out of the year (Michigan), and moderate off-roading? I've heard bad things about the g80...and also how much of a job is it swapping them out?
