I got myself an 88 full size that im making into my hauler for my body dropped sonoma. Question is, should i lift it with big meats, or convert it to 2wd and bag it over 20's?

 

I'm assuming that you're talking about either raising or dropping your full size right? Well, since your sonoma is already dropped and it is going to haul it, then I would definately lift it. That way you will have the best of both worlds. Plus if you do attend shows, then you can show them off together and have more of an impact at shows catching attention, especially if you show your trucks off with the dropped one under the lifted one. But that's my 2 cents.

 

yeah, that would be pretty cool, but massachusetts has a really strict lift law of no more than 4 inches ...unless i lift it with bags on a cantilever setup so i can pass ispection...i dunno i want to get the body done first anyways. rust sucks!

 

that's the only problem with state laws...every one is different. Nebraska is quite different...there are trucks that roll down the highway with their mudders on and they are sitting so high that you could back your 'noma under it. I don't know what to tell you except that if there is a way around it to where you can lift it above the 4" while at shows, then go for it. I'd check with your local law enforcement first before I'd do any sort of a modification to it and have a copy of it so you can cover your *** if you do get pulled over. I was reading Super Street the other day and they had a big article about this stuff with the rice rocket exhaust being too loud, window tint being too dark, etc. They said to get a copy of the order that shows the legal qualifications and keep it in your truck to save you *** when a cocky police officer puuls you over. ah, screw it. i'll just leave the suspension alone. ill just finish the body and interior and call it good. put my time and money towards my sonoma. thanks

 

ok, i finally made up my mind...i will leave the suspension alone (it looks like it already has a 2" lift). and in the spring ill get some nice mickey thompson classic II rims and some 33x12.5" bfg mud terrains[sm=icon_rock.gif]

That'll do, yes that'll do. Can't go wrong with the BFG mud T/A's. Had em' on my 76 F150 and loved it. They last like 40,000 miles, and for a mud tire that is exceptional.

 

nice, thats good to know. im not going to use them in winter anyways(i heard they're not that great in snow) plus i wanna keep the aluminum rims looking nice. and im not going wheelin with it either. there's no way this things leaving the pavement after all the time im puttin into it

 

Lift it for performance. i wouldnt go overboard with on of those crazy 20 inch lifts. its always nice to have a vehicle that will go offroad. lifting that old of a truck, might make highspeed vibrations though. but good luck with the project.
