Hey i just put on new 255/70R15 Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires on stock rims and no wheel spacers. They fit great and do not rub at full turn on streets. Haven't taken it to trails yet. But here is a couple pics of them to see for anyone looking for good tire sizes. Hopefully this works with the pics. If not just go to my garage and you can see it there.

jmparker82 05-24-2014 07:03 PM

Also being i have the 4 door Blazer my spare tire is under the body. So i found out only a 235/75/R15 tire is the biggest that will fit under for me. The 235/75/R15 is 28.9 inches in diameter and the 255/70/R15 is 29.1 inches in diameter. For me getting it in the 235/75/R15 barely wiggled into place. Oh and my Blazer came stock with 235/70/R15 which is 28 inches in diameter.

Maybe air it down a bit?

jmparker82 05-25-2014 09:04 AM

Damn i didn't even think to air it down abit. I even keep a small compressor in the Blazer so no problem airing it back up.

EZEARL 05-25-2014 02:39 PM

HOPE it works.

El_Beautor 05-26-2014 08:56 AM

The 255/70/15 is a great size for a factory height Blazer. I ran them for almost 3 years before I started going bigger. They look a lot meatier than the 235's, and I never had any problems with them either.

jmparker82 05-26-2014 01:15 PM

These tires are great. I did light trailing with them once by the river. I was alone so i didn't chance it in the mud (we have clay) but i didn't rub any with light flexing and the loose dirt was nothing. Just like driving on pavement only bumpier. I am going to put spacers on the back end to line all the wheels up then maybe i will have someone to pull me out and i will see how the Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires really do in the mud.

Thanks for posting! Nice wheels.

Ok a little more on how the tires are doing. I went on some trails yesterday and flexed through rutts about a foot deep. Didn't rub anywhere, i wasn't at full turn though, and went over everything nicely. The Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires did really good for the trails and biting in the dirt. Once we got close to the river and got in the slick clay i had to goose the gas a bit to clear the tread out good but it still did just as good as my buddy that has Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires. So overall i am very happy with the tires i have and the size tire as well. I do think before winter hits i am going to put a 2" shackle lift in the rear and 1.5" t key lift in the front for a bit more clearance.

EZEARL 06-06-2014 11:26 AM

Did you get it to fit in the spare carrier?

jmparker82 06-06-2014 04:08 PM

I got the 235/75/15 in the spare carrier. I will have to go pick up another 255/70/15 tire soon to change out with it. Since it didn't fit right away i traded it out for the 235/75/15. Stupid move on my part.

jmparker82 06-08-2014 01:28 PM

Well i took the Blazer with the 255/70/15 tires for a interstate trip. I got 17.3 mpg while doing 80-85 mph. Then i slowed it down to 65 mph and got 19.5 mpg. It worked out really well.

DaveBMC 08-05-2014 07:36 PM

I was just checking my 1992 4 door Blazer to see if the set of tires my brother got off his pick up would fit, they are 255 70 R15s. It doesn't look like they will. Full turn with the stock 235 75 R15s just miss the swaybar by about1/4", and the big tires are an inch wider at the sidewall. I don't know anything about wheel spacers. Any comments welcome.

El_Beautor 08-06-2014 09:26 AM

The 1st gen Blazers are a little different than the 2nd gen ones, but you should be able to fit 255/70/15's without any real problems. Does the tire miss the sway bar by the same amount on both sides? On mine with 255/70/15's on stock 4x4 rims I would sometimes touch the sway bar on the drivers side, but clear the passenger side easy. Turns out that the sway bar bushings were worn out and the sway bar wasn't centered. I replaced the bushings and centered the sway bar and never touched it again.

jmparker82 08-06-2014 09:00 PM

Even with the different Gen Blazer if you do touch the sway bar a little and the bushings are all good (as El_Beautor explained). Then i would see if they rubbed anywhere else, if not i would put them on and just be mindful to not go full turn in either direction. That is of course depending on what you would like to do to your vehicle. If you decide to go with wheel spacers make sure you know your local laws for if tires stick out past the fenders.

psmurfy 08-07-2014 11:09 PM

man that looks good....Glad to see the way they look and fit. I don't like the factory skinny 235/75 I just put on mine. Next set 255/70's. Thanks for tryin 'em out for me lol!

jmparker82 08-10-2014 06:21 PM

I just put the 1.5" wheel spacers on the back of my Blazer. It made the stance look so much better. I will post pics shortly. Next on the list is replace the rear leaf springs with new HD springs and a 2" shackle lift and a 1" torsion lift on the front.

DaveBMC 08-11-2014 07:41 PM

Thanks for the input. I am gonna give it a try.

Joesbeef 08-22-2014 07:49 PM

I have the 255/70/r15 with general grabber at2s, with the 2in shackle and 1.5 torsion bar lift. Runs and looks great with no rubbing. I want to get spacers to align the rear end with the front. Not sure what size spacer to get. If any one has idea what size spacer to get, to get an even stance, please let me know.

newguy 08-22-2014 09:43 PM

1.5 inch

jmparker82 08-23-2014 09:34 AM

Yep Newguy is right. I put 1.5 inch on the rear with the 255/70/15 tires and they are as perfect as possible for being aligned with the front. The stance looks good to.

Joesbeef 08-24-2014 10:20 PM

Do the spacers causes any issues/ware on any of the suspension? And any specific brand you guys recommend?

newguy 08-25-2014 05:26 AM

no more than offset rims do. Been running mine for a year now with no problem. Make sure they`re Hub sentric

I love my AT/3s too. I went with 235/75s though and had a tech 2 speedo recalibration.

Nice looking wheels! And it helped me to choose new winter tires for my stock '95.
I am also gonna need rear spacers. I prefer ebay, because sellers there often offer european shipping.
Anyone wanna provide me with a link to correct spacers?
Regards from Norway.

Don't know if you have run it in the rain or not but don't the spacers put your wheels outside of the wheel well?
