Default aluminum wheels

what are the best ways to polish my aluminum wheels. i have use the mothers power ball and mothers polish. And i have tried using steel wool .00001 (i think) which every one is for aluminum. Any suggestions?

would be good if you told us what wheels you're working on.

if you're talking about your factory wheels, you can't polish them-they have clear on them.

X2

To polish them, you would have to remove the clear and then probably go through a progressive series of sanding the wheels with finer and finer sand paper and eventually polishing compound to get a polished rim.

You might have already ruined the clear coat. Or maybe it was in such bad shape before you started that it doesn't matter. Either way, you have some options. Post up some picks of your wheels so we can see what's up.

Believe it or not they make aluminum wool. Steel wool will impregnate the aluminum and eventually cause dissimilar metal corrosion if you got it through the clear coat. Lot of guys don't know this. Depends on the environment you run in too. Some of the aluminum wheels have so,e texture to them which if you use sandpaper you'll take off. Your choice of course. Some people like the smooth finish. After you get them to where you want them you should probably put some sort of sealer on them so they'll stay looking good. Even wax will do.

Then you'll need to look at them to determine if they're coated, or contact the company to find out..
