I drove from Pennsylvania to Virginia with 31" mud tires and was getting 17-18 mpgs about 300 miles each way

guess it depends how aggressive the tire tread is and how much they weigh

imo mud tires should stay on weekend rigs, sure they look cool, but once they start getting cupped, and bad tread wear (which happens very easy) you'll get mad vibrations on the highway, which is not good for front end parts. Tread is just too soft, frequent rotations are a must.

The a/t tires they make now will perform just fine for a moderate mudder, last longer, ride smoother, save parts, save gas, and are usually cheaper than m/t's

oh, and lets mention they should stay softer in the winter, which is very good.

I think since I've got a full size truck and at's on it already. I'm going to stick my 18"rims on the blazer and stick some 235/60/18 all season tires on it. I do alot of highway driving. And I looked at those dunlops. Those things weight a ton! I do know right now with my 18's adn 255/55's it does about 1mpg worse than the stock rims. But these tires are 10.1 inches wide at the tread, and they stick out some. Hence why I'm going to go with 235/60's. And the discussion of those tire will be a new thread when I get some money. LOL!

I got 31 kumho kl71. In drove from Pittsburgh to Orlando and averaged around 18 mpg. They do rub when I hit a hard bump or full turn but only on occasion well worth it.

Yea. I went with the 31x10.50/15 dunlop at's. I had to haul a trailer around all weekend after I gat them put on. So the 14.4mpg on my overhead was showing the trailer behind me:icon_wink:. So I'll have to look into the mpg this week driving to work. Plus I have to figure out the math of how much of a mph and mileage difference it's going to be with these bigger tires.
