Default need some tire advice

this question was probably already asked but cut me some slack im new to this whole thing. I currently have a 2001 chevy blazer LT and i added a 6 inch suspension lift. I'm choosing tires at the moment and i'm stuck between 31 10.5 r15 or 33 12.5 r15. I personally want to fit 33's but I want to know if that's a good idea or not. I want to know what it's gonna take to clear them...lift, wheel spacers, offset wheels, trimming, etc. Any advice or pictures would help.

With a 6" lift you "should" be able to fit 33's. You might have to do a bit of trimming, but nothing to serious. Whatever rims you choose, keep the 6" back spacing and you should be good to go. Keep in mind, going to taller tires will have an affect not only on your rpm's going down the road but also the amount of torque you are putting down on the road. You will "lose power" with bigger tires unless you regear to taller gears. If you have 3.73's it won't be near as bad as if you have 3.42's.

If you find 33's to be too much of a tire, keep in mind you can still find 32X11.5 15's out there. Try to find a shop that will mount both for you to see which would be better. Also, the rule of thumb that most shops follow is they will not mount a tire that is more that 4 inches wider than the rim. So, if you can find a set of rims that are 15X8.5 with a bolt pattern of 5X4.75 with 6 inches of backspacing you will be golden.

You could always go with a 33x10.5x15 also. Not a common size and therefore a bit more expensive but that would give you the height without the extra width. Also if you go with a 12.5 wide tire you will need either spacers or 4 in back space wheels if you want to have any turning radius. I have 35x12.50x15 on stock 2wd rims on my jimmy and I still had to add to the turning stops to keep the tires from rubbing the frame when turning.

I currently have 33x12.5r15 on mine I only have the 2.5” ex lift and a 2” body. I had to do a little inner fender trimming. My wheels are 15x8 with a -16 offset which helps and I have 3.73 gearing so far I’m loving the ride seems smoother then the 31s. There is more sidewall so a bit softer but I had to remove my front sway bar. I kept snapping the mount on the drivers control arm( not sure why) gonna replace the control and and try to put it back on
