that tire size is just over 30.5" tall, knocking out your speedo 8.6%. never mind barely being able to fit in the wheel well. the largest tire you can run on stock suspension/no BL is either....... 245/70/R16 (29.50" diameter), 245/65/R17 (29.53" diameter), 245/60/R18 (29.57" diameter). i know this will work since i have a set of 17's with that size of tire on them for my '98, which is currently stock suspension, and these fit. just. they drive & turn alright, but the rear edge of the inner fender well does rub-slightly- when turning into driveways. not too bad if you go slowly, but for the couple of days i ran them last Summer, i found it to be quite a PITA. plus i didn't want to risk beating the fenders up. here's a pic to give you an idea of what kind of space you have, http://i996.photobucket.com/albums/a...k/HPIM3556.jpg http://i996.photobucket.com/albums/a...k/HPIM3555.jpg hope that helped you out brother. ***edit*** i forgot to mention that these tires are roughly only 30 to 35% tread, so they're a little under the 29.5" diameter. |
bah i was close for memory :icon_urinal:

Let me see if this link works. This is what I use to figure out overall sizes of metric tires. http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp

a 255/60/R18 will net you a 30" tire. and it'll knock out your speedo 6.96% @ Matt: i found that Miata calculator you linked to, to be kind-of a PITA to use. it seemed to take forever to load. but that could just be my dino of a desktop. :icon_shrug: personally, i've always used 1010tires calcualtor. |
