Will BFG's fit

What im wondering if 31/10.50/15 BFG A/T's or M/T's will fit on my 99 2 door with an add a leaf and a torsion bar crank. I would like there to be no rubing on the fenders. Rubing at full lock is ok. I would like to know how theses will fit on my stock ZR2 wheels and on aftermarket wheel with a 4.5" backspacing

RE: Will BFG's fit

add a leaf and torsion crank is not enough info for anyone to decide if you're tires will fit. We need a lift measurement.

To put you in the ball park...my 30x10.50s (on 15x8s with 4.5' of backspacing) rub on fender at the last 10% to full lock, and thats with 1.5' up and trimmed fenders.

RE: Will BFG's fit

your stock ZR2 wheels? im assuming you have ZR2 wheels on a non ZR2?? if it is a ZR2 you will be able to fit them with no mods. If it is a non-ZR2 you need 2 inches of all around lift and 5-6" backspacing. They may still rub the frame at full crank..

Aaron where ya been?!?!? Havn't seen you around here in a while...had lots of 'wow a_tack would explain this better' threads recently:)

i have a non-ZR2 with ZR2 wheels and whould 4.5" backspacing work i want them to stick out like the ZR2

RE: Will BFG's fit

theyre gonna rub with 4.5" BS... unless you trim the fenders a bit..

and wolfpack, i've been lurking around..lol in between jobs right now so i've been out doing yard work for extra cash.... by the time I can get online im too tired...haha but im back..

will they rub with the add a leaf torsion crank and a 2" body lift?

a_tack 05-08-2008 09:12 PM

RE: Will BFG's fit

well no... but thats kindof a waste just for 31's... why not just the crank, shackles, and stock rim backspacing with 31's?

WolfPack 05-08-2008 09:23 PM

RE: Will BFG's fit

Well he wants the ZR2 stance...hence the lower backspace rims. 4.5' is manageable...I've only gone up 1.5' and only had a trim a minor bit, but then again that's with 30x10.50s not 31s.....

Haha...again..let's just go with a_tack on this one :D

will 32's fit with a torsion crank, aal, and a body lift

RE: Will BFG's fit

ZR2 rims are exactly the same as normal 4x4 S-series rims.
Absolutely no difference, other than possibly the year of your rig, which would make them look different... That's it.

RE: Will BFG's fit

Ya i dont know what you guys are talking about the ZR2 rim is the same as all the Blazer 4x4 rims.
Remember ZR2s come factory with 31x10.5 obviously with no issues. But on a standard 4x4 all factory yo umay get some rubbing at full turn of the wheel, and with articulation.
My ZR2 had 32x 11.5 bfgs onit when i got it never rubbed once. Now i have 31s back on it with a -30 offset rim and it get rubbing.
With your factory rims i dont see much of any issues putting 31s on a standard 4x4.

RE: Will BFG's fit

On most 2nd gen two door non-Z Blazers, 30x9.5 R15 on the stock rims is the biggest you can go without rubbing, with no lift.

WolfPack 05-22-2008 09:38 PM

RE: Will BFG's fit

x2. ZR2s have larger wheel wells to clear bigger tires, so you very well may have cleared 32x11.50s fine, but I'm willing to bet you had a bit of lift from your torsion bars to clear them fine.

Also remember the safe rating is +- 4' from rim to tire. So a 10.50 will fit fine on a 15x7.

The A Team 05-22-2008 11:18 PM

RE: Will BFG's fit

What? ZR2 has the exact same wheel wells as every other blazer it is no differnet in the body besides the flares.
No my truck is 100% stock.

Zr2 are not the same. The wheel wells are bigger, i have measured them

x2

There's much more to a ZR2 than just 31s, flares, and a lift.

FYI, if you get a ZR2 axle under a reguler S-Series 4x4, the front/rear will line right up :D

Close enough, anyway, lol

RE: Will BFG's fit

I have 30x9.5 R15s on the stock rims and clears fine with full turns and flexing! I actually also have some questions about possibly going to 31"s. So my question is: What will rub if I get the 10x8 black steel rims with 4" back spacing and BFGoodrich A/T 31X10.5 R15? Also, if I get 10x7 rims wouldn't that make the whole wheel a little taller since it will squeeze the 31x10.5 R15s? If this post doesn't belong here, please delete it and I will start a new thread.

Thanks!

RE: Will BFG's fit

Fenders + frame will rub, I believe...

And My 30s rub when I have my brushguard on the truck, lol. Not very often, and not very much, but they do.

RE: Will BFG's fit

We have had this conversation 10 billion times and it always comes down to this.

The biggest tire you can run is 30" on a stock 4x4.

If you change backspacing ortire diameter you MUSTmake modifications to your body/suspension or both to fit. If you dont make the modificationsyou will rub, No ifs, ands, or butts about it.

If your on a budget, put on 30" tires and call it a day.

If money is no object, swap in a2 1/2 ton militaryaxles and run 53" Michelins. Might require just a tad bit o fender trimming to clear.

Somewhere between those two is where most people end up.

I dont recommend t-bar cranks. There are more negative sides effects then positives from cranking the t-bars.

To fit 31" tires, install a 2" body lift, or a 2" suspension lift, or get out the saw and whack up your fenders. Even withthe lift, you may still have to whack your fenders.

By the way. there are more differences between the ZR2 and the regular Blazer then fender flares. The ZR2 has a different frame. YES a DIFFERENT FRAME withroughly a 3" wider stance.

RE: Will BFG's fit

So as far as I understand, if I get 4" back spacing rims that should eliminate the frame rubbing part of the problem. Then all I have to do is smash the under fender inward to make the tire clear on turns. What about when I flex the blazer to the max (stock suspension), will the 31" rub on the top of the fender? What is the best way to take care of that without the body/suspension lifts?

Also, what difference will it make if I get 10x8 or 10x7 rims?

Thanks!

drperry 06-01-2008 07:29 PM

RE: Will BFG's fit

I've got the tire grabbing points on the tops of my fenders with my 30" tires and offroading with my brushguard on.

WolfPack 06-01-2008 07:59 PM

RE: Will BFG's fit

I think the biggest problem you're going to have is finding 10x8 or 10x7 rims for the blazer;)

RE: Will BFG's fit

edit: double post.

Damn internet...

drperry 06-01-2008 08:16 PM

RE: Will BFG's fit

That could be a problem... I don't think I've seen rims that small outside of quad territory :D

KA3AX 06-01-2008 10:09 PM

RE: Will BFG's fit

Okay here is 10 x8s for the same bolt pattern as the blazer (5 on a 4.75" bolt circle)

and here is 10x7s

So what difference will the width of these make on the overall wheels?

drperry 06-01-2008 11:13 PM

RE: Will BFG's fit

15x8s is what those are... 15" diameter 8" wide

There's not much difference between a 15x8 and a 15x7 unless you're going to a low pro tire...

Bigger side walls have more size range.

The 15x7" with 4" backspacing is going to stick out 2" wider than the factory wheels... The 8" version is going to be 1/2", I think, wider

KA3AX 06-01-2008 11:26 PM

RE: Will BFG's fit

So basically, 10x7 will be narrower but taller with the 31"s, which means it will probably rub less against the fender and frame right?

drperry 06-02-2008 02:08 AM

RE: Will BFG's fit

Where are you getting the number 10 from? It's messing us all up!

KA3AX 06-02-2008 08:55 AM

RE: Will BFG's fit

I thought I saw that that is how they measure the width of it... I'm sorry if I confused anyone, didn't mean it.

drperry 06-02-2008 03:31 PM

RE: Will BFG's fit

It says right on the page that they're 7" and 8" wide...

and 15" diameter :)

No worries, I was just wondering where it came from, lol

KA3AX 06-02-2008 03:55 PM

RE: Will BFG's fit

So as far as I understand I can install 31" tire on a 7", 8", and even 10" wide rim? If so, what is the best combination?

drperry 06-02-2008 07:05 PM

RE: Will BFG's fit

That depends on the width of a tire...

I think 10.50 is the widest you can go on a 7" rim.
