Default 08 Blazer 4wd pops out

New to the forum and have searched for my issue but not found anything. Owned for 6 months, first time in the mud couple of weekends ago. 4wd initially engaged but would pop out after short time reverting to 2wd. Managed to get 1 1/4 miles down road back to gravel. Got home started searching on internet. Tons of documentation on the older models, but haven't found much on the 08. As I understand it from my research, basically 4 components. 1-Transfer case control module' on the transfer case, 2- encoder, not sure where it is 3- actuator, on the passenger side front axle, 4- the switch, on the dash. However, having real difficulty finding any way of differentially troubleshooting them. There are articles on the switch, which mine seems to go through all selections properly, but when selecting 4lo, a triangular light comes on on the dash (stabilitrack?), and the dash reads something about the 4wd not working. As I drove the 1 1/4 miles on mud I tried all 4 selctor positions, and it popped out of 4wd in all 4 selector positions. Since the 4wd initially engages it doesn't seem like it would be the TCCM. Got under it with hands on the actuator and had the wife change selector positions and the actuator makes noise and I can feel what I interpret to be it engaging. Haven't found any information on the encoder (actually all I know about encoders was from reading older model forums, does this 08 have one even?). The older models were a vacuum operated actuator which had common problems, but this one seems to be completely electronic. oh yeah, tried the electronic reset for TCCM (unplug the TCCM fuse for half an hour then plug it back in and cycle the key on/off 5 times, waiting for the selector lights to come on/go off). Appreciate any help or direction you may provide
