2005 trailblazer fuel filter location

first time to change fuel filter and can't seem to locate it - i followed fuel line from tank to engine - is it under a cover somewhere? Thanks - has L6 engine

It looks to be attached to the side of the tank behind the sheild. It looks as though there is an access cover to get to it. HTH

There should be a skid plate, or sheild bolted to the tank brackets. I was looking at a poor picture of the system, as I have not yet replaced one personaly.

This is what I found.
For the 2005 model year, the fuel filter was changed from an external mount to internal version that is part of the fuel sender assembly. Due to the fuel filter location change, there is no longer a recommended fuel filter replacement criteria.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I was pretty sure that the filter was internal to the tank...

You need to change a fuel filter on an 05 already? Dang.

seems to be a common problem with the 2005 models. Our Envoy XL had the same problem, when we took it to the dealership to have it fixed, the mechanic said he has had to work on them often.

Thank God my new Rainier has the external filter!!
