How do I unsubscribe to Blazer Forum.Com

Since joining the forum less than a day ago, I have had 147 junk Emails sent to my account. The usual number I get is 2 to 3 a week. Either my Email address is being picked up off this site, or the people that are running it are selling my Email address. I can not find how to unsubscribe from the forum.

I've never gotten junk email from this site, mabey it was from somewhere else.

same here i have never got junk mail from this site. did you by any chance give your email to some other site around the same time you joined this site?

cbr995 09-14-2011 06:40 PM

That's odd. I doubt it's this place because I don't get any junk mail, either.

swartlkk 09-14-2011 06:41 PM

I can delete your account if you'd like, but I doubt it will solve your issue. I have my email address posted in the open forums and I do not receive a single spam message on that account. When you register here, your email address is not posted anywhere, nor is it sold in any way, shape, or form...

Junk Mail

If no one else is getting the junk Email, it must be a coincidence. Sorry I am jumping to conclusions, but I do not join boards or post my Email anywhere. The only thing that changed was that I joined this forum, so when 12 hours later the junk mail started arriving (over 200 now), I figured it must be from here. If none of you are getting junk Emails, then it must not be coming from here.

i never get junks from this site this forum is spam free =)

janddcunningham 09-14-2011 08:58 PM

I have to agree with everyone i have never gotten junk mail the only emails i get from here are notifications when i post or link myself to another thread.

TheRandom1 09-14-2011 09:20 PM

I get 3-4 junk emails per week total on my account (gmail) and that number has stayed the same since before I joined here, so this isn't it.

However, deleting your account here (even if it was the cause) won't change anything, your addy is already on spammer lists. Best thing you can do now other than changing your email address, is to just up your spam filters and sift through occasionally to make sure you didn't miss a good email.

I don't get any e-mail from this website so it is probably from somewhere else.

Create a Yahoo/hotmail/gmail account to use for that very reason when subscribing to a site or ordering over the internet. I don't get junk mail on my home email!

mdehoogh 09-15-2011 10:33 AM

Sorry to hear about your situation skip.h, I don't ever get spam email and like swartlkk, I leave my address posted out in the open in a number of places.

Did you happen to reply to a craigslist ad prior to getting the spam? There are a LOT of people that use craigslist solely for email harvesting.

For those that already have a yahoo or gmail account, Yahoo can actually create a disposable address that will have a random alphanumeric string followed by a site specific tag instead of your normal address. You can make the suffix related to the site you use it at (like, g3ji8-blazerforum@yahoo) and if you get spam, you can just delete the entire disposable address without affecting your normal account.

Gmail also has a trick you can use to create site specific addresses. If your address is awesomeguy@gmail.com and you decide to register at a forum like this or amazon or anywhere really, you can use awesomeguy+amazon@gmail.com or awesomeguy+blazerforum@gmail.com. You can then set up a filter to redirect +amazon mail to a separate folder or whatever you want.

Both forms are very good at tracking email abuse and the originator of the spam. The yahoo one works better because it creates a secondary base account to add the suffix/tag to. If they remove the tag and start sending to the normal account you can delete the entire thing. The gmail version uses your normal address so all it would take is a halfway intelligent spammer to remove the tag and then they've got your real address.

Facebook and Myspace share your email, so you get spammed BIG time from them.

im thinking maybe what hes talking about is is hes getting notifications from every thread hes posted it or started, every reply sends you a email. i get the same thing. but ive learned from the past about crapping up your good email account so i have a second email i use especially for subscribing to stuff or signing up to sites

heres just a small clip from my junk email account

He only has 4 posts though, I can't see somehow getting 147 replies in 2 days off of 4 threads, haha.

xgiovannix12 09-15-2011 10:20 PM

yea i was thinking about that then i saw his post count so i agree its not those

Thogert 09-16-2011 12:25 AM

You can turn those off in your user cp if it gets too annoying. That's what I did.
